SPRING, TX – The 2018 Southern Texas PGA Levy Cup Matches team will be led by Timber Creek Golf Club’s Director of Instruction David Pilsner and Whispering Pines Golf Club’s Assistant PGA Professional Ryan Briggs. This Ryder Cup-style event between the Northern Texas PGA and the Southern Texas PGA Assistant and Senior members will be the second meeting and is set for October 15-16 at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
“I am thrilled to be chosen Co-Captain of the 2018 STPGA Levy Cup team,” said Pilsner. “To serve with Ryan Briggs is truly an honor. I look forward to being part of a great event and to keeping the trophy here where it belongs.”
Pilsner, who earned his PGA Membership in 1983, served as the STPGA President from 2007-2008.
Briggs echoed Pilsner on receiving this honor. “I would like to thank the STPGA Board for selecting me to be Co-Captains with David this year,” said Briggs. “I am honored and excited to accept this role. My predecessors Charlie Eskridge and Chris Pribyl laid a great foundation for us last year. Our job is to build on that and keep the Cup here in south Texas.”
Briggs, a product of the Sam Houston State University PGA Golf Management program, was elected to membership in 2013 and is a former employee of the Southern Texas PGA.
Pilsner and Briggs will look to finalize the team following play of the 50th Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship at Victoria Country Club on August 27-29, 2018.
