Ross Leads Round One of the 22nd Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open

MONT BELVIEU, TEXAS --- John Ross (Freeman, West Virginia) is in the lead after firing an opening round of 67, 4-under par, at the 22nd Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open presented by S & B and Vortech Contacting. Ross carded four birdies on the day, all coming on his back nine.
 
Robin Byrd (Satellite Beach, Florida), Robert Niger (Sacramento, California), and Omar Uresti (Austin, Texas) sit one stroke back of Ross at 3-under.
 
Officials suspended play at 1:07 p.m. due to lightning in Mont Belvieu area. Due to inclement weather in the area and impending darkness, the Committee made the decision to suspend Round 1 at 4:00 p.m. Round One play will resume at 9:00 a.m. Round Two tee times will begin at approximately at 2:00 p.m.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Eagle Pointe Golf Club, a 6,467-yard, par 71 layout has hosted this prestigious senior championship. The 54-hole stroke play event consists of 100 players not only from Texas but from all over the country. The Senior Division consists of players ages 50-64, and the Veterans Division consists of players ages 64 and over. Again in 2018, a low amateur will be awarded at the Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open. Sean Reed currently leads with a 75 (+4), while Mike Goff sits one stroke behind.
