Conner wins playoff at River Crossing
For Frank Conner, winning is one of those “not if, but when” proposition. After finishing no lower than a second-place tie in the first four 2010 STPGA Bridgestone Golf Senior Series tournaments he had played in, he broke through with a score of 69-73—142, 2-under-par for the course at River Crossing Golf Club, and won the Super Senior and overall competitions in the Senior Series most recent tournament.
Conner has finished in first place in no less than a half dozen Senior Series tournaments since 2008.
Conner birdied the first hole of a sudden death playoff with 2008 STPGA Bridgestone Golf Senior Series Player of the Year Philip Miranda for the overall victory, which earned $300. First place in the Super Senior Division was worth $580.
Wayne Wright followed Conner in the Super Senior group, posting a total of 76-67—143, good for $450 in winnings. Wayne Mitchell took third place with a score of 71-73—144 and won $380.
Miranda, with a finish of 73-69—142, took home $560 for winning top spot in the Senior Division. Steve Parker and Garry Rippy finished in a tie for second place, both scoring 36-hole totals of 72-71—143 for $400 in winnings each.
Amateur Tom Vickers won the tournament’s Veteran Division with a tally of 78-72—150 and received a merchandise certificate of $390. Marty Fleck was the Veteran’s runner-up, carding a 75-76—151 total for a $210 check.
