SPRING, TX --- The Southern Texas PGA announced the host sites for its 2019 Annual Meeting, 2019-20 PGA Professional Championship and the 2019 and 2021 Texas Joe Black Cup Matches on Friday.
Horseshoe Bay Resort will play host to the 2019 Southern Texas PGA Annual Meeting on February 18-19, 2019. At this two-day event PGA Professionals enjoy great speakers, attend the Annual Membership Meeting, honor award recipients, network with fellow Professionals, and much more. Registration for the 2019 STPGA Annual Meeting will be available in mid-December.
The 2019 Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship will be contested at Shadow Hawk Golf Club in Richmond. This marks the first time the 7,207-yard, par 72, Rees Jones-designed course will host this event.
In 2020, the STPGA Professional Championship will take place in the heart of the Texas Hill Country at Boot Ranch. This top-rated par-72 course designed by PGA Champion and former Ryder Cup Captain Hal Sutton measures 7,155-yards from the championship tees and provides players of all levels with challenges and opportunities. In addition to 2020, Boot Ranch has played host to the Championship in 2009 and 2013. David von Hoffmann (Spanish Oaks GC) took home the hardware in 2013 after shooting an impressive three-day total of 205 (-8), while European Senior Tour player Tim Thelen topped the leaderboard in 2009.
The Clubs at Houston Oaks and Boot Ranch will host the 2019 and 2021 Texas Joe Black Cup Matches, respectively. The Texas Joe Black Cup Matches were created in 1981 to honor Joe Black, who was completing his first term as President of the PGA of America. This annual Ryder Cup-style event is the most anticipated competitive event between the Northern and Southern Texas PGA Sections each year.
Captain Buddy Cook and Team STPGA defeated NTPGA 15.5 to 8.5 in 2017, the last time Boot Ranch played host to the Matches. 2019 will mark the first time the event is held at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley.
