Host Sites Selected for 2019 Southern Texas PGA Major Tournaments

SPRING, TEXAS ---  The Southern Texas PGA is pleased to announce the host sites for each of the five Majors to be contested in 2019, beginning with the TPx Communications Match Play Championship at The Clubs of Kingwood (Island Course)

The TPx Communications Match Play Championship is slated for Monday, February 11 – Wednesday, February 13 and will mark the fourth time The Clubs of Kingwood have hosted a STPGA Major Tournament. PGA Teaching Professional Ben Willman (Axis Golf Academy) looks to defend his title, while Tim Hobby, PGA Teaching Professional (The Club at Sonterra), will defend his Senior Division title.

Golfcrest Country Club will host the Memorial Championship for the second time in four years on Monday, March 18 - Tuesday, March 19. In 2018, Pablo del Olmo (The Woodlands Golf Performance Group) made birdie on the first playoff hole against Rufus Brijalba (The Hills Country Club) to earn his first Section title. Robert Thompson (Whispering Pines Golf Club) looks to defend in the Senior Division in 2019.

On Monday, May 20 – Tuesday, May 21, The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch will provide the test for the Spring Classic. PGA General Manager Marc DeWall, PGA Director of Golf Daren Johnson, PGA Head Professional Jacque LeBlanc, and their staff prepare to host what is certain to be a great event at the 7,450-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. Eric Bogar (Golfcrest Country Club) is the defending champion of this event, with Ricky Arnett (Great Hills Country Club) defending the senior title.

The Tradition Championship will be conducted Monday, July 22 - Tuesday, July 23 at Traditions Club in Bryan. Rufus Brijalba, Head Professional (The Hills Country Club), returned to the winner’s circle in 2018 and looks to defend his title, while Tim Hobby (The Club at Sonterra) will attempt to defend his second Senior Division title of the year.

The 2018 Major Tournament schedule closes out on Monday, August 26 – Wednesday, August 28 with the 51st STPGA Professional Championship at Shadow Hawk Golf Club. Omar Uresti (Life Member) looks to defend his title.

The full 2019 STPGA schedule will be announced Monday, December 3, with registration for each event opening two months prior to Round One.
