SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The Southern Texas PGA leads 4.5 to 1.5 after day one of the 2018 Levy Cup Matches. This Ryder Cup-style event is the second meeting between the Northern and Southern Texas PGA Sections.
Day one of the Levy Cup Matches was shortened due to inclement weather in the San Antonio area. The morning began with a 15-minute delay and then play was suspended at 1:08 p.m. due to rain and lightning in the area. Due to limited daylight and Tuesday's forecast, the Committee and Captains made the decision to complete the Four-Ball Matches in the afternoon after play resumed at 4:17 p.m., and cancel the Foursome Matches. Play will resume with Singles Matches on Tuesday morning.
Due to the omission of the Foursome Matches, only 18 points will be available at the Second Annual Levy Cup Matches. With the shortening of the Matches, the Southern Texas PGA needs 9 points to regain the Cup, while the Northern Texas PGA needs 9.5 to capture the Cup.
