November 9th, 2018

MONT BELVIEU, TX (November 9, 2018) --- Ron Schroeder of Montgomery, Texas captured the 22nd Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open presented by S & B and Vortech Contracting with a solid round of 66 (-5). He finished the Senior Open one stroke ahead of the competition.

“I’ve been playing pretty good as of late,” said Schroeder. “Some things just fall in your hands and I got a little lucky this year. It means a lot to me that I won the Texas Senior Open. I’ve won the Colorado Senior Open and have been wanting to tag this one along with it.”

Round 2 of the Senior Open was suspended at 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, November 8 due to darkness. Unfortunately, due to the deteriorating course conditions from early morning rainfall, the Committee made the decision to cancel Round 2. The 22nd Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open was contested as an 18-hole Championship.

Schroeder, the 2017 Southern Texas PGA Senior Series Player of the Year, recorded seven birdies on the round, with four coming on his back nine.

John Ross of Freeman, West Virginia, and Gary Rusnak of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida finished tied for second after recording a 67, 4-under par.

Low Amateur honors were also awarded at the Senior Open. William Shock of Pasadena, Texas and Rick Milligan of Shelby, North Carolina, earned Low Amateur recognition and finished tied for 22nd place shooting 73 (+2) for the 18-hole Championship.

The Lone Star Texas Senior Open was contested at Eagle Pointe Golf Club, a 6,467-yard, par 71 layout. This marks the fifth consecutive year the Club is hosting the prestigious senior championship. The purse for the Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open is a record $49,500.
