Thompson Headed to Senior PGA Championship

Whispering Pines Golf Club’s PGA Teaching Professional Robert Thompson will represent the Southern Texas PGA at the 79th Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid on May 24-27 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Thompson earned the exemption into the Championship by finishing in the Top-35 at the 2017 Senior PGA Professional Championship presented by Mercedes-Benz USA in September at Desert Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona. He shot 71 during the Final Round of the Professional Championship to finish the 72-hole event with a score of 291 and tied for 32nd.

Other PGA Members representing South Texas are: European Senior Tour Member Tim Thelen; legendary Tom Kite; and Champions Tour Members Esteban Toledo, Bob Estes, Todd Hamilton, Wes Short, Jr., and Tom Byrum.

Thompson will tee off at 1:40 p.m. CST in Round One and at 8:30 a.m. CST in Round Two.
