Victoria Country Club will play host to the 2018 Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA on Monday, August 27 – Wednesday, August 29. This marks the 50th
anniversary of the Championship.
The field is competing for seven qualifying spots for the 2019 PGA Professional Championship, presented by Club Car and OMEGA. The Championship will be contested April 28 – May 1, 2019, at Belfair in Bluffton, South Carolina. The top 20 players from the event will compete in the 101st
PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park – Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y, set for May 16-19, 2019.
This 54-hole event is the final of five individual stroke play championships that comprise the OMEGA Player of the Year Points List. It also serves as a qualifier to earn points towards making the 2018 Texas Joe Black Cup Matches team and Levy Cup Matches team. The champion has their pick of also playing in the 2019 Houston Open or Valero Texas Open.
The Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA will feature 84 PGA Professionals.
Victoria Country Club, a 6,870-yard, par 72 layout will play as a par 71 at 6,856-yards for this week’s Championship. The Country Club has played host to this event three times, with the most recent being the 25th
Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship in 1993. J. L. Lewis topped the leaderboard that year.
In last year’s event, Jesse Droemer carded a 3-under-par 69 in the final round at Bluejack National to win the 36-hole event with a total of 136 (-8). Omar Uresti (Life Member) finished one shot behind, followed by JJ Wood (Golf Performance Group) and Ryan Polzin (Oak Hills Country Club) tied at third with a total of 139 (-5).
