Jay Jurecic Wins the 30th Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open!

MONT BELVIEU, TX (October 9, 2026) – Jay Jurecic of Crystal Falls, Michigan, delivered three days of consistent play at Eagle Pointe Golf Club, capturing the 30th Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open with rounds of 69-68-68 for a tournament total of 8-under-par 205.
Entering Friday's final round tied atop the leaderboard with Jerod Turner of Aledo, Texas, Jurecic wasted little time separating himself from the field. Birdies on three of his first four holes gave him an early advantage, but a bogey on the par-4 sixth briefly slowed his momentum. Jurecic quickly settled back into his rhythm, adding another birdie on the ninth to make the turn at 3-under-par for the day, building a three-stroke advantage as the Championship headed into its closing stretch.
Rather than allowing the leaderboard to dictate his strategy, Jurecic focused on improving upon his own performances from the previous two rounds. After shooting 1-under par on the front nine on both Wednesday and Thursday, he challenged himself to find another gear in Friday's final round.
"I was trying to just play like me versus me because I shot one under both times on the front nine," Jurecic said. "I was just trying to play against my own score."
With the lead in hand, Jurecic remained steady on the back nine, recording six consecutive pars from holes 10 through 15. A bogey on the 16th presented a late challenge, but Jurecic responded immediately, sinking an 18-foot birdie putt on the 17th to regain momentum. A composed finish on the 18th secured his final-round 68 and the Championship title.
For Jurecic, the victory came down to a disciplined approach, trusting his preparation and maintaining his focus one shot at a time.
"I was able to, for the most part, focus very well on all the shots and stay in the moment," Jurecic said. "I made a few mistakes, but I was able to bounce back, and I putted well. I trusted my training, like I said yesterday, and I'm fortunate to get the win."

His ability to recover from adversity proved equally important. Despite arriving without a practice round after competing in a qualifier in Jacksonville, Jurecic relied on previous experience at Eagle Pointe Golf Club and an emphasis on staying present to navigate the course's challenges.
The Championship victory adds to an impressive stretch of competitive golf for Jurecic, who recently earned a tie for eighth place at the Sanford International on PGA TOUR Champions, held September 11-13, 2026. Competing against some of the game's most accomplished senior professionals, Jurecic's top-10 finish provided another milestone in his pursuit of competing at the highest levels of professional golf.

After spending years as a schoolteacher, Jurecic continues to pursue his own competitive aspirations, putting into practice the same message he once shared with his students.
"I've been working really hard. I've been very blessed, and God's given me the talent to play this game and the resources," Jurecic said. "I'm grateful to have a chance to play. I taught school for a bunch of years, and I always told the students to get out there and chase your dreams, and I'm getting a chance to do it."
