Carter claims Senior Division title.

MONT BELVIEU, TX—Jim Carter of Scottsdale, Arizona claimed the Championship title at the 24th Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open presented by S & B and Vortech Contracting with rounds of 66-70-63 for a final 54-hole score of 199 (-14).

“I felt really good coming in. I started hitting some good shots. Made some puts on the first day and the last day’” said Carter. “The second day was a little iffy on the greens, but today made up for it.”

Carter headed into his final round tied for third. After sinking five birdies on the front nine and three on the back, he finished three strokes ahead of the field with a bogey free final round of 63 (-8).

“I felt good today. I just hit some good quality shots and then when you can make the putts, it builds a little momentum,” said Carter. “And that’s where it gets fun. And then you get a little nervous and a little adrenaline pumping, and so you have to try and not get too excited. I did a good job, so it worked out nice.”

Ron Schroeder of Montgomery, Texas, and Mike Standly of League City, Texas tied for second in the Championship shooting a 54-hole total of 202 (-11).

Low Amateur honors were also awarded today at the Senior Open. William Shock of Pasadena, Texas was the only amateur to make the cut and finished T22 place, shooting 212 (-1) in the 54-hole Championship earning him the Low Amateur recognition.

The 24th Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open was contested at Eagle Pointe Golf Club, a 6,740-yard part 71 course in Mont Belvieu, Texas. This is the seventh year in a row Eagle Pointe has hosted this prestigious event.

Final results from this week can be found on the Texas Senior Open Tournament Page.

Thank you to Lone Star NGL for their title sponsorship and S & B and Vortech Contracting for being the presenting sponsor. The 25th Lone Star NGL Texas Senior Open will take place back at Eagle Pointe Oct 20-22, 2021.

STPGA 2026 Q1 UPDATE Record Growth & Our Roadmap Ahead Dear STPGA Members and Associates, We recently kicked off 2026 with our first Board Meeting and Annual Meeting in San Antonio. It was inspiring to see over 200 members in attendance for what was a productive and insightful few days. As we look toward the year ahead, I am proud to share some significant highlights regarding our Section’s health and future direction. Exceptional Financial Growth During the Annual Meeting, we reported our 2025 year-end financials, and I am pleased to confirm that the STPGA remains in excellent financial condition. Revenue Milestone: We surpassed $8.7 million in revenue for 2025, marking a 55% increase since 2021. National Standing: The STPGA is now the 3rd largest operation out of the 41 PGA Sections—a remarkable feat considering we rank 11th in total membership. Reserve Fund: Our financial success has allowed us to establish a conservatively invested reserve fund. This provides a safety net for unforeseen circumstances and the flexibility to expand our staff, enhance our programs, and capitalize on future opportunities. A Roadmap for the Future We were thrilled to unveil our finalized Vision, Mission, and Strategic Pillars . It has been several years since this foundational document was updated, and these pillars will now serve as the compass for all annual planning and goal setting.
