Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open Week Begins and the Legacy Grows!

Southern Texas PGA • October 7, 2025

MONT BELVIEU, TX (October 7, 2025) – The stage is set and players are ready to go. It is officially the week of the Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open! For the 29th time, over 120 Senior Professionals and Amateurs are set to play in the largest State Senior Open in the country.

Hosted at Eagle Pointe Golf Club in Mont Belvieu, TX, since 2014, players will be faced with a golf course in fast and firm conditions. The event commenced today with the famous Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open Pro-Am. This featured 23 incredible teams that support the event and the philanthropic initiatives of the PGA of America REACH Foundation Southern Texas.

We would like to congratulate the winning team of Barbers Hill Education Foundation, featuring Fred Skinner, George Barrera, Clay Fullick, and Clint Pipes, led by Anthony Rodriguez.

Prior to the Pro-Am starting, the STPGA, in partnership with Energy Transfer and the City of Mont Belvieu, announced a partnership extension for the next three years, keeping the Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open at Eagle Pointe each October.

“We could not be more excited to continue our relationship to host this event, but also give back to the local community,” said Thomas Hutton, Executive Director for the STPGA. “This partnership with Energy Transfer started in 2015 and continues to grow each year, and we are extremely grateful for their support.”

The Energy Transfer Texas Senior Open Pro-Am serves as a special opportunity to raise funds for PGA REACH Southern Texas and our Scholarship Program, thanks to the generosity of our partners. We are proud to announce that this year’s event raised $30,000, which will be donated to the PGA REACH Southern Texas and the Energy Transfer Scholarship Fund. This brings our total amount raised to over $200,000 since the partnership commenced.

“We always enjoy working with partners that see the value of golf not only for the entertainment and brand exposure, but for the opportunity to serve its local community through scholarships for high school students.” Said Hutton.

This event would not be possible without our four presenting partners of the City of Mont Belvieu, Riceland, Vortech Contracting, and OPD. These four companies, along with Energy Transfer, allow us to roll out the red carpet for players, guests, and the golfing community, and allow our professionals to compete in a $100,000 purse.

The STPGA would also like to say thank you to our Pro-Am Partners of Barbers Hill Education Foundation, CIMA Services, Coastal Chemical, Gallant, Jets.com, McGrath Real Estate Partners, MSB Consulting, Mulloy Bell Wealth Management, NALCO Water, PERC Engineering, TPC Industrial, and Wildlife Partners.

STPGA 2026 Q1 UPDATE Record Growth & Our Roadmap Ahead Dear STPGA Members and Associates, We recently kicked off 2026 with our first Board Meeting and Annual Meeting in San Antonio. It was inspiring to see over 200 members in attendance for what was a productive and insightful few days. As we look toward the year ahead, I am proud to share some significant highlights regarding our Section’s health and future direction. Exceptional Financial Growth During the Annual Meeting, we reported our 2025 year-end financials, and I am pleased to confirm that the STPGA remains in excellent financial condition. Revenue Milestone: We surpassed $8.7 million in revenue for 2025, marking a 55% increase since 2021. National Standing: The STPGA is now the 3rd largest operation out of the 41 PGA Sections—a remarkable feat considering we rank 11th in total membership. Reserve Fund: Our financial success has allowed us to establish a conservatively invested reserve fund. This provides a safety net for unforeseen circumstances and the flexibility to expand our staff, enhance our programs, and capitalize on future opportunities. A Roadmap for the Future We were thrilled to unveil our finalized Vision, Mission, and Strategic Pillars . It has been several years since this foundational document was updated, and these pillars will now serve as the compass for all annual planning and goal setting.
