Hunter Brings Home the Southern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship Title

MONTGOMERY, TEXAS – Jeff Hunter, PGA Director of Golf at The Club at Comanche Trace claims the Southern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship title after a two way playoff for first. Heading into their final round, Robert Thompson, PGA Teaching Professional at Whispering Pines Golf Club and Jeff Hunter both lead the field at 3-under-par, 4 strokes ahead of the second place position.
Going neck and neck through their final round, the two finished tied at (+1) 145 leading to a playoff. After a tough downhill bunker lie, chipping it past the hole in his third shot, Robert bogeyed the playoff hole, leaving Jeff with a putt for birdie to claim the Championship title.
“We both played pretty ugly. It was kind of a pillow fight out there,” said Jeff. “It’s been a really long time, so I really wanted it. It was fun to play well again.”
Jeff will lead 6 additional Section PGA Professionals to compete in the 34th Senior PGA Professional Championship on October 13 - 16 at Twin Warriors & Santa Ana Golf Clubs.
