KC Lim Wins TPx Communications Memorial Championship

Southern Texas PGA • March 19, 2019

PEARLAND, TEXAS --- KC Lim, Assistant Professional at The Republic Golf Club, carded a 5-under-par 67 (-5) in the final round to win the 2019 TPx Communications Memorial Championship with a final score of 136 (-8).

“Despite the windy conditions, I got off to a hot start,” said Lim. “I got into a groove at the Pro-Pro Am-Am in Lake Charles and it just rolled over to this tournament. I was relaxed and confident out there and played just as solid, if not better, golf yesterday.”

He recorded six birdies and one bogey on his way to claiming his first major tournament win. Lim took home a $4,900 check for his victory.

“I’m very excited for the win,” said Lim. “I’ve dreamed about winning this and hopefully I can win a few more this year.”

The
TPx Communications Memorial Championship included a Senior Division that was comprised of 19 participants aged 50 or older who competed for a separate $7,000 purse and played at modified yardage. Tim Hobby, PGA Teaching Professional at The Club at Sonterra, went into today’s final round with a seven-under-par 65 and never looked back. He finished the 36-hole Championship with a total score of 137 (-7). This marks Hobby’s third Senior Division title.

“Yesterday the game seemed pretty easy,” said Hobby. “Today was a little more challenging, but I hung in there and made some birdies on the back nine.”

Hobby secured the eight-stroke win over Billy Sitton, PGA Golf Executive at Triumph Golf. In addition to his second-place finish, Sitton made a hole-in-one on Hole 8 with his 6-iron.

Olle Karlstrom, PGA Head Professional at Walden on Lake Houston rounded out the top-3 with a two-day total of 146 (+2). Karlstrom was also the winner of the Hole-In-One USA Closest to the Hole Contest during Monday’s round.

This 36-hole event was the second of five individual stroke play events that comprise the OMEGA Player of the Year Points List. The
TPx Communications Memorial featured 86 Southern Texas PGA Members and Associates competing at Golfcrest Country Club, a 7,272-yard, par 72 layout.

The
TPx Communications Memorial Championship was presented by Club Car, Columbia, GT Golf Supplies, and PXG. Club Car also hosted a prize pool in round one for those STPGA Professionals at a Club Car facility. With his score of 69, Jared Jones, PGA Director of Golf at River Oaks Country Club, took home the honors.

HOUSTON, TEXAS (August 18, 2025) – Mother Nature had different plans at Champions Golf Club, where drawn-out lightning delays ultimately forced the cancellation of Round Two and shortened the 2025 Southern Texas Assistant PGA Professional Championship to 18 holes. Taking advantage of his strong opening round, Jake Sitterle, Assistant Professional at Lakecliff Country Club, earned the victory with a score of 70 (-1) on the par-71 layout, securing his place at this year’s champion. “This wasn’t the way anyone wanted this championship to end. Gilbert was playing great in the second round, but I am happy I could get the win,” Sitterle reflected. “With how the last major ended, I was always confident in my game and that I could be up at the top, but this field is strong, and I just wish all the guys who qualified the best of luck.” The tournament, hosted at Champions Golf Club, featured over 50 Assistant Professionals from across the Section, competing for qualifying spots into the Assistant PGA Professional Championship, set to be played at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, November 13-16, 2025.
