MATTHEW BOUNDY, PGA – A PATH BUILT ON PEOPLE, FAMILY & GOLF
For Matthew Boundy, PGA, golf wasn’t always the plan; it was something that slowly found its way to the center of his life. Growing up in the Houston area, Matthew initially imagined a very different future. With a family deeply rooted in law enforcement, becoming a police officer once felt like a natural path. But after the loss of his grandmother in the line of duty, his family gently encouraged him to explore other directions.
Sports filled that space early on, with baseball taking priority throughout much of his youth and golf playing a quieter, secondary role. That changed during his senior year of high school, when golf began to take hold. After a year at community college, Matthew had a moment of clarity that altered everything. He applied to Sam Houston State’s PGA Golf Management Program and never looked back.
What followed was more than a college experience. It was a brotherhood. As a member of Cohort 15 and later President of the PGA Golf Management program, Matthew found lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, and a support system that continues today. Several of his closest friends from the program stood beside him at his wedding, and many now hold influential roles throughout the golf industry. “You really do become a family,” he says. “And one day, you look around and realize just how impactful that group is becoming.”

After gaining experience on the green-grass side of the business, Matthew transitioned into sales, drawn by the entrepreneurial nature of the role and the chance to build something of his own. Covering South Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, his days are defined by movement, connection, and conversation. For him, the best part isn’t the travel or the flexibility, it’s the people. “Networking is everything,” Matthew explains. “I’ve met so many PGA Professionals I never would’ve crossed paths with otherwise.”
That perspective is shaped by experience. Having once stood behind the counter placing orders himself, Matthew understands the challenges PGA Professionals face, and that relatability builds trust.
Away from work, Matthew’s world revolves around family. He and his wife married in March 2020, navigating a COVID-era wedding that unexpectedly turned into a perfect beginning, complete with a farmhouse ceremony and the down payment on their first home. Today, they’re raising two children, Avery and Ashton, names they chose years before becoming parents.
Golf still plays an important role in Matthew’s life, but in a different way now. Time away from the course has made every round more intentional, more meaningful. “When I get to play now, it’s with purpose,” he says. “I appreciate it more.”
Proud of earning the three letters “PGA” after his name, Matthew sees the designation not just as a milestone, but as a responsibility, an opportunity to be the person younger golfers once looked up to.
And through it all, one thing remains constant: relationships matter. Whether it’s family, friends, or fellow PGA Professionals, Matthew Boundy’s journey is a reminder that golf isn’t just about where you work; it’s about who you become along the way.
