Presidential Points: STPGA 2026 Q1 Update

STPGA 2026 Q1 UPDATE
Record Growth & Our Roadmap Ahead
Dear STPGA Members and Associates,
We recently kicked off 2026 with our first Board Meeting and Annual Meeting in San Antonio. It was inspiring to see over 200 members in attendance for what was a productive and insightful few days.
As we look toward the year ahead, I am proud to share some significant highlights regarding our Section’s health and future direction.
Exceptional Financial Growth
During the Annual Meeting, we reported our 2025 year-end financials, and I am pleased to confirm that the STPGA remains in excellent financial condition.
- Revenue Milestone: We surpassed $8.7 million in revenue for 2025, marking a 55% increase since 2021.
- National Standing: The STPGA is now the 3rd largest operation out of the 41 PGA Sections—a remarkable feat considering we rank 11th in total membership.
- Reserve Fund: Our financial success has allowed us to establish a conservatively invested reserve fund. This provides a safety net for unforeseen circumstances and the flexibility to expand our staff, enhance our programs, and capitalize on future opportunities.
A Roadmap for the Future
We were thrilled to unveil our finalized Vision, Mission, and Strategic Pillars. It has been several years since this foundational document was updated, and these pillars will now serve as the compass for all annual planning and goal setting.
With collaborative input from our Board of Directors and staff, we have set ambitious goals for 2026 aligned with these pillars. I look forward to sharing our progress on these initiatives in future updates.
Education & Leadership Highlights
The Education Summit featured a world-class lineup of speakers specifically curated to meet the evolving needs of our professionals. Attendees gained insights on Leadership from Kelly Merbler, AI Integration from Kevin Scott, and Productivity from Rik Roberts. We also explored "The Empathy Interview" with Joe Dupree, peak performance with Jim Nittoli and Dr. David Wright, and the dynamics of player-coach team building with Bryan and Hunter Gathright.
Beyond these sessions, Dawes Marlatt (PGA of America) provided vital updates on the Associates program and Lifelong Learning model. This was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring Regional Director Mike Ray and District 12 Director Dale Morgan. My sincere thanks to the partners who made this high-caliber event possible.
Finally, the highlight of the week was celebrating our peers at the 58th Annual Awards Banquet. We are incredibly proud of all our honorees, with a special shout-out to Jim Nittoli for being named Golf Professional of the Year.
Looking Ahead
Our Section is stronger than it has ever been, and that is a testament to your engagement and dedication to the game. Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or comments.
Sincerely,

Dr. Rich Ballinger, PGA
President, Southern Texas PGA
